The most popular Bible verses in 2014 were from seven of the 66 biblical texts, according to a Christianity Today report.
The findings were based on statistics provided by YouVersion, a popular free Bible app for smartphones, tablets and computers. The app allows users to read various translations, bookmark favorite verses and share verses on social media.
YouVersion grouped data into three categories:
â— Most popular verses – those with the highest number of bookmarks, highlights and shares.
â— Most shared verses – those posted on Twitter, Facebook, text message and email.
â— Most popular by country – the verse that received the highest number of bookmarks, highlights and shares in the 10 nations with the most YouVersion users.
The top 10 most popular verses were Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:8, Philippians 4:6, Jeremiah 29:11, Matthew 6:33, Philippians 4:7, Proverbs 3:5, Isaiah 41:10, Matthew 6:34 and Proverbs 3:6.
The top 10 most shared verse were Colossians 3:23-24, 1 Chronicles 16:34, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Philippians 4:8, Jeremiah 33:2-3, Galatians 6:7-8, Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Romans 12:3 and Psalm 103:17-18.
The most popular by country were Jeremiah 29:11 (Australia), Philippians 4:8 (Brazil, Nigeria, U.S.), Jeremiah 29:11 (Canada), Isaiah 41:10 (Mexico), Jeremiah 33:2-3 (South Korea) and Jeremiah 29:11 (U.K.).
“None of the top 10 most shared verses of 2013 made this year’s list. Last year, Psalm 118:24 was the most shared verse worldwide,” Christianity Today noted.
