The Baptist Center for Ethics added a staff member and elected new officers at its annual board meeting on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

BCE’s board of directors hired Jan Turrentine as an associate director responsible for educational resources, specifically the development of new online materials for adults.

Turrentine was managing editor for products at the Woman’s Missionary Union for five years. From 1983 to 1997, she was a WMU design editor.

A native of Louisiana, Turrentine is a graduate of Louisiana College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The board elected Karen Zurheide, director of Positive Tomorrows, as its chair, replacing David Crocker, pastor of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C. Zurheide is a member of First Baptist Church, Oklahoma City.

Gary Burton, pastor of Pintlala Baptist Church in Hope Hull, Ala., was elected vice-chair.

New directors include Sylvia Deloach, First Baptist Church, Richardson, Texas; David Hughes, First Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Bill Ireland, Ardmore Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C.
