Overview

The civil rights movement in America was a journey of faith. One foot in front of the other while refusing to toe the line of race, African Americans believed that there was another way. A sacred resistance, their embodiment of the struggle for freedom continues to inspire generation after generation.

The Birmingham-Montgomery Civil Rights Good Faith Experience will center the history of social activism and resistance in the African American religious experience. Participants will bear witness to their assertion of dignity and worth as we are all God’s children. They will walk in the footsteps of those who devoted their lives to the natural urgency of freedom from all that would hinder agency and autonomy.

Join Starlette Thomas and Bruce Gourley on April 25-26, 2023, as we retrace the steps of those who made history and nurture a faith that moves us all forward.

Participants will visit the historic sites, museums and memorials in three Alabama cities listed above. Details on the specific days and times of each visit will be provided later, with plans about specific site visits subject to change due to local conditions and potential closures.

The experience will begin at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 25, and conclude in the evening on Wednesday, April 26.

Pricing + Registration

Total cost: $325, which includes entrance fees to all museums and sites, 3 meals, (1 lunch and 2 dinners), transportation to and from the UAB Hilton to all sites, a guidebook to mark the occasion and deepen the experience, and fabulous company!

Please note: Price does not include lodging. You will need to book your own room at UAB Hilton or another area hotel.
