One of the largest Christian TV networks—that reaches 45 million homes—will air EthicsDaily.com’s latest documentary.
The prison-and-faith documentary, “Through the Door,” released in January 2014 by the Nashville-based nonprofit, will premiere at 8 p.m. Oct. 9 (CST) on NRB Network, the broadcasting arm of the National Religious Broadcasters association.
“Through the Door” highlights the faith community’s engagement with prisons, including how people of faith minister to both inmates and officers, inside and outside the prison walls.
Featured stories come from Tennessee, Virginia, Texas, Indiana and Georgia.
“‘Through the Door’ is an excellent film, and we are pleased to broadcast it on the NRB Network,” said NRB Network President and CEO Troy A. Miller.
“Our viewers will be encouraged to learn about the wonderful work fellow believers across the nation are doing to reach returning citizens with the love and grace of Christ,” he said. “It’s a call to action for us all.”
Programming on the NRB Network is delivered to 45 million households via DIRECTV and local TV affiliates. It is also available online at nrbnetwork.tv, via Roku and on mobile apps.
NRB Network launched in 2005 with the vision to offer “Christian television that significantly impacts the culture.”
In addition to programming documentaries on a variety of topics, the network also delivers programs on preaching, health and fitness, cooking and more.
“It’s both a pleasure and an opportunity to have the NRB Network pick up ‘Through the Door,'” said EthicsDaily.com media producer Cliff Vaughn, who co-produced the documentary.
“The network’s reach is impressive. Its commitment to independent producers is noteworthy. And its willingness to put prison issues—successes and challenges—out there for viewers should be applauded,” he added.
EthicsDaily.com added more than five minutes of footage, not seen on the DVD version of the documentary, in order to meet the NRB Network’s runtime.
The additional footage includes more of the “bus stop ministry” by Bill Kleiber of Restorative Justice Ministries Network in Huntsville, Texas.
“Through the Door” received its public premiere in February at Richmond’s Bon Air Baptist Church in Virginia.
It will be screened on Sept. 22 at the First United Methodist Church of Little Rock, Arkansas, and twice at Baptist churches in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Sept. 29.

The NRB Network airing follows previous TV broadcasts of the documentary on Soul of the South Network in August and Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters in May.
“Through the Door” will air a second time at midnight Oct. 9 (CST). Repeat broadcasts on the NRB Network will occur across 12 months with dates and times to be determined.
