Two new titles – Nurturing Faith Commentary: Year A, Volume 4 and Reading John: The Bible’s Transforming Storybook – are now available from Nurturing Faith Books, the publishing imprint of Good Faith Media.
In Year A, Volume 4 of the Nurturing Faith Commentary series, Tony W. Cartledge focuses on the Season after Pentecost, Proper 15-29.
Unique in its intent and content, this resource offers teaching, preaching and learning aids from a broad swath of carefully explored biblical texts found in the Revised Common Lectionary. The purpose of these studies goes beyond gaining knowledge — although the insights are plentiful — to discovering the inspiration and fresh possibilities for living out biblical truth in one’s daily experiences and spheres of influence.
Year A, Volume 1, covering the lectionary texts for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, was released in August 2022. Year A, Volume 2, published in September 2022, engages the texts for Lent, Easter and Pentecost. Year A, Volume 3, released in February 2023, addresses the lectionary texts for the season after Pentecost, Proper 1-14.
Cartledge is contributing editor and curriculum writer for Nurturing Faith Journal and Bible Studies and professor of Old Testament at Campbell University Divinity School. Additional information about the commentary series is available here.
Reading John, Gerald L. Borchert’s third book published by Nurturing Faith Books, analyzes the Gospel of John by focusing on the fascinating nature of storytelling in the gospel as a prime example and model of early Christian storytelling.
This book walks the fine line between being sufficiently technical for scholars and sufficiently non-technical for interested laypersons and students so that both will find it enticing to read and reflect on how the Johannine storyteller has effectively captured the hearts of countless Christians throughout the centuries.
Borchert is emeritus professor and thesis director at the Robert Webber Institute for Worship Studies, holding an honors Ph.D. from Princeton and is an elected member of Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas.
Both titles are now available in Good Faith Media’s online bookstore.
