Passport, Inc. has announced the Chester Phelps Passport Seminary Scholarship recipients for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The scholarship, made possible through a partnership with River Road Baptist Church, is awarded to select summer staff for Passport Camps who are pursuing careers in ministry through seminary education. It is named after a long-time minister at River Road who brought students to Passport camps for many years.
Among this year’s recipients are Jessalynn Brown, a third-year student at George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Sophia Carter, a second-year student at Wake Forest Divinity School and Paxton Vaughn, a second-year student at Duke Divinity School.
Each student served with Passport Camps last summer. According to Rev. David Burroughs, president of Passport, Inc., each of them “did a wonderful job ministering with us this past summer at Passport,” adding that Passport is excited for being able to help in a small way and “so thankful for River Road Church for continuing to make these scholarships available.”
Passport is a national non-profit student ministry providing creative summer camp experiences for youth and children, focusing on mission action and education.
