1. Where did you grow up?

I was born in Sedalia, Missouri, and lived in a couple of other Missouri towns before my family settled in Jefferson City (the state capital) during my kindergarten year.

2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?

My favorite biblical text isn’t really a specific verse or book but instead a translation: the “Cotton Patch Gospel.”

It challenges and excites me in fresh ways.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

One of my favorites is M. Night Shyamalan’s “Signs.”

It mixes thrills, humor and discussions of faith.

4. Who are three of the people you admire?

Clarence Jordan, Will Campbell and Jimmy Carter.

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I authored two books, but sales suggest this, unfortunately, might be little-known–as Will Campbell modestly joked about himself, I “write rare books for a living.”

More seriously, although I enjoy public speaking, I am in most circumstances an introvert.
