1. Where did you grow up?

I was born in Cork in Ireland, but I grew up in Leamington Spa, England, just a few miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace.

2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?

Ephesians 2:8.

Grace has always been the dominant motif in my preaching and my understanding of the Christian faith.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

“The English Patient.”

Stunning cinematography and a heartbreaking love story.

4. Who are three of the people you admire?

Pope Francis, Bill and Melinda Gates, and my Arab Christian colleagues.

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

In 1997, I sat down with a Taliban official, his Kalashnikov propped up in the corner and a belt of bullets across his chest, and registered my arrival in Kabul.
