1. Where did you grow up?
Memphis, Tennessee, and Wynne, Arkansas.
2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?
The Gospel of Mark.
I wrote my doctoral dissertation at the University of Edinburgh on the role of God in Mark, and when you spend three to four years in one book like that, you tend to get close.
3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
Because it’s Monty Python!
4. Who are three of the people you admire?
Martin Luther King Jr., Larry Hurtado (my doctoral supervisor) and my three kids.
5. What is one little known fact about yourself?
I am a fan of hard rock music.
