Elijah Brown is the director of the Freedom Center and associate professor of missions at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, where he also serves as a faculty in residence.

1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Marble Falls, Texas, and then moved during high school to Bertram, Texas; both of these are small, rural towns located in the hill country about an hour outside of Austin.
2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?
Matthew 6:10.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Secondhand Lions.”
Its narrative of creative imagination, courage to risk, emphasis on initiative rather than conformity, and steadfast relational trust.
4. Who are three of the people you admire?
Henri Nouwen, John Stott and David Bosch.
5. What is one little known fact about yourself?
The summer after I graduated from high school was spent in Botswana, Africa, complete with camping in the Okavango Delta, occasional lion watches at night, sleeping once in the footprint of an elephant, and daily mission engagement with and among some of the most wonderful and faith-filled people.
