1. Where did you grow up?
Hot Springs, Arkansas.
2. What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?
Colossians 2:6-7.
It speaks to the fact that the Christian journey begins, grows and finds its fulfillment in the Christ of tradition and experience.
3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“The Godfather.”
The characters are rich, complex and tremendously engaging, and the story is a fascinating and compelling portrayal of the power of evil, in the form of things like power, influence and money to debase and deform even the strongest and most well-intentioned people.
4. Who are three people you admire?
Michelle Obama, Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador and Don Redmon (a Southern Baptist missionary in Costa Rica from the 1960s into the 1990s).
5. What is one little-known fact about yourself?
I learned to trill the Spanish “r” by lying in bed on my back with my head hanging over the edge and clicking my tongue against the roof of my mouth as fast as I could.
