Lina Toth (Andronoviene) is a Lithuanian-born Baptist theologian. She is assistant principal and lecturer in practical theology at the Scottish Baptist College and is on adjunct faculty at the International Baptist Theological Study Centre in Amsterdam.
- Where did you grow up?
In Klaipeda, Lithuania – although then, under the occupation by the Soviet Union, it was called the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic.
- What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?
I do not have one favorite! Instead, I find myself “traveling” through Scripture as its stories and passages suddenly draw me in.
Right now, I’m thinking about Genesis 9 – God’s covenant with all the creatures – and how it continues to speak into the environmental issues we are facing.
- What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Forrest Gump.”
It’s one of those I can watch again and again.
- Who are three people you admire?
Jonas Inkenas, my grandfather; Jacqueline Primrose, a friend and student who recently passed away; and Susan Howatch, British author whose latest novels are a fascinating exploration of faith, theology and ministry.
- What is one little-known fact about yourself?
Years ago, I started taking pictures of restroom signs in various facilities I would visit. It became quite a sizeable collection and has now evolved into a social media account in which I keep a sort of a diary through restroom signs.
