1. Where did you grow up?

Bryan, Texas.

2. What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?

This changes regularly, but currently my favorite story is the healing of the centurion’s servant in Luke 7:1-10.

In Luke’s account of this story, some Jewish elders come to Jesus to plead the centurion’s case and tell Jesus that the centurion helped them build their synagogue. Romans and Jews getting along, even working together for the good of marginalized communities, if you ask me, is pretty relevant to our world today.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

“Pitch Perfect.”

It depicts an all-female group defying expectations and doing something people said women couldn’t do – plus, a cappella is just fun.

4. Who are three people you admire?

Virginia Connally (first female physician in Abilene and supporter of Baptist causes), Jesse Fletcher (former president of Hardin-Simmons University) and Malala Yousafzai.

5. What is one little-known fact about yourself?

I cannot resist karaoke.
