Olu Menjay is a second-term president of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention.
He also serves as principal of Liberia’s Ricks Institute (a K-12 school) as well as assistant professor at the Columbus Roberts Department of Religion at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
1. Where did you grow up?
Sanniquellie, Nimba County, which is located in the northern part of Liberia.
2. What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?
Proverbs 3:5-6.
This passage continues to place life for me in proper perspective, especially in my world that has been confronted with so many interruptions.
3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Pray the Devil Back to Hell.”
This documentary tells a true part of Liberia’s story on how the nation overcame a tragic civil war in West Africa.
4. Who are three people you admire?
Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Edward Wilmot Blyden (an advocate for religious tolerance and freedom, especially in West Africa) and Martin Luther King Jr.
5. What is one little-known fact about yourself?
I enjoy traveling in the rural parts of Liberia and endlessly discovering the diversity of culture and practice that exists among the people of Liberia.
