Rob Hewell is a professor at Ouachita Baptist University. He is also a resident fellow and professor of worship at B.H. Carroll Theological Institute and holds membership in the International Council of Ethnodoxologists and the Ancient-Future Faith Network.

1. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Oklahoma, but I grew up in north Texas in Wichita Falls and the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?
The Epistle to the Hebrews.
It has a deep abiding influence in my life and work with its glorious Christology that threads together so many themes vital to understanding the unity of the Scriptures.
3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Cinema Paradiso.”
It is a wonderful story about a movie house owner in an Italian village and a boy who becomes a respected filmmaker, featuring an astonishing climax and Ennio Morricone’s exquisite musical score highlighting the wonders of artistic endeavor and life-long friendships.
4. Who are three of the people you admire?
Marva Dawn (theologian, author, teacher), Terry York (seminary professor, author, poet) and the Apostle John.
5. What is one little known fact about yourself?
I held three jobs at various times during college: church custodian, drive-in bank teller and stamping machine operator in a paper plate factory – all of which taught me valuable life lessons that still resonate today.
