Sarah Shelton is pastor of Baptist Church of the Covenant in Birmingham, Alabama.
- Where did you grow up?
Birmingham, Alabama.
- What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?
I love all the Bible stories, even the horrid and terrifying ones! My favorite verse is Philippians 4:8.
It points us to ways of thinking only the best whatever the challenge.
- What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Out of Africa.”
I saw it with my husband on one of our first dates. Meryl Streep’s character, Karen, is such a powerful woman, and I love the line, “He was not mine.”
- Who are three people you admire?
While it may sound trite, the people I admire the most are my family members: family of origin, the family I married into and my own family. I better not choose between them because they all are instrumental to challenging and nurturing me to be my best self.
- What is one little-known fact about yourself?
I was Fannie Flagg’s stand-in for a movie shot in Birmingham, “Stay Hungry.”
