Tony Brooks is the Baptist General Association of Virginia’s (BGAV’s) Sunday school / discipleship specialist and field strategist for the southside region.
- Where did you grow up?
I had a variety of experiences growing up. Born in Ozark, Alabama, spent a couple of years in Lafayette, Louisiana, and from ages 5 to 18 in Valley in eastern Alabama, near the state’s border with Georgia.
- What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?
I could choose from many verses as a favorite, but my mission statement since my 20s has been John 10:10.
I have been called to live out of the abundant life Christ offers and to help others discover abundant life.
- What is your favorite movie? Why?
“It’s a Wonderful Life.”
We all have an opportunity to be angels for people who are in need of hope and perspective.
- Who are three people you admire?
Henri Nouwen; Bill Cowley, my preaching/missions professor and mentor at Samford University during my college days; and Israel Galindo, my adviser on my doctoral project at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in Virginia.
- What is one little-known fact about yourself?
I am extremely competitive in sports and games.
