1. Where did you grow up?

I spent my first five years in South Miami until my family moved south to the suburb on Perrine, Florida.

2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?

The woman at the well in John 4.

Jesus’ model of intentional ministry to vulnerable persons, especially women, is, for me, his signature teaching on how we are to live with one another.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

“The American President.”

When my mother was alive, we watched it regularly, often turning down the volume and reciting the dialogue; we were drawn to the witty, well-written script, the cast and the captivating relationships.

4. Who are three of the people you admire?

Jimmy Carter, Tia Torres (founder of the Villalobos Rescue Center) and Sarah Shelton (pastor of the Baptist Church of the Covenant in Birmingham, Alabama).

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I would like to write a “Life with Katie” series of children’s books about my Catahoula/pit bull mix rescue dog.
