1. Where did you grow up?
Austin and Dripping Springs, Texas.
2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?
The Gospel according to Matthew.
I appreciate how purposefully the overall narrative was constructed, and it contains two of the most inspiring and challenging texts for me–chapters 5-7 and 25.
3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Field of Dreams.”
Baseball is my favorite sport, and I find parallels between the baseball field and the kingdom of God–both require faith to see the hope and life present in a seemingly empty, barren landscape.
4. Who are three of the people you admire?
Apart from family members, Walter Rauschenbusch, Martin Luther King Jr. and Frederick Buechner.
5. What is one little known fact about yourself?
While I’m only 5 foot, 7 inches tall and currently weigh about 148 pounds–though I weighed around 165 pounds in high school–I was the starting middle linebacker on my high school football team my senior year (and we made the playoffs).
