Stephen K. Reeves

Stephen Reeves serves as the associate coordinator of partnerships and advocacy for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Based in Decatur Georgia, CBF consists of individual supporters, approximately 1,800 affiliated congregations, 18 state and regional fellowships and numerous ministry partners seeking to be the presence of Christ. Reeves provides leadership for the first coordinated public advocacy efforts from the CBF national offices. He works to educate, equip and encourage advocates within the Fellowship. He is a national leader in the effort to reform predatory lending practices including payday and auto title lending and has led CBF to be more active in immigration and refugee advocacy. Reeves also serves as co-chair of the CBF/Baptist Women in Ministry Clergy Sexual Misconduct Task Force. In addition, he oversees CBF’s relationships with outside ministry and missions partners, and the chaplaincy and pastoral counseling division.

Prior to joining CBF in October 2013, he served as Director of Public Policy and as Legislative Counsel for the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission (CLC) where he directed the work of the Citizenship and Public Policy office in Austin and was a registered lobbyist. He is a native of Austin, Texas, a member of the State Bar of Texas, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and the Texas Tech University School of Law. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Center for Responsible Lending’s Faith & Credit Roundtable, on the board of directors for the Baptist Joint Committee, and Passport, Inc, and the strategic advisory board of Good Faith Media. Before joining the CLC, he served as Staff Attorney for the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty (BJC) in Washington, D.C.

He is married to Rev. Deborah Gaddis Reeves of Boiling Springs, N.C., a CBF endorsed chaplain. They have a daughter, Kellyn, and two sons, Garrett and Landry. He is a lifelong Baptist and has served as a Sunday school teacher and an ordained deacon. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors through fly fishing, hiking, camping and kayaking. He is an avid music fan and passionate supporter of Texas Longhorn football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
