All around Macon, Ga., the abundant cherry blossoms have returned in their full glory. So have the tree gawkers from near and far. So has the annual festival.
Once again pink-wearing old people will return to Third Street Park and stand in long lines in pursuit of free cherry ice cream. Downtown businesses will enjoy a big boost.
Conservative, manly men will don pink sport coats and ties. Various shades of pink are back on store windows, mailboxes, cars — and even a fuchsia-painted, convertible-riding poodle.
Some people check their calendars for the beginning of spring. In Macon, we just look for the infusion of pink.
Well, the signs of spring are everywhere on this warm weekend.
