Recognitions of Molly T. Marshall and Barbara “Babs” Baugh will bookend the Friday event lineup at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s (CBF) June general assembly.
Both have been named as EthicsDaily.com’s Baptist of the Year.
Molly T. Marshall, president of Central Baptist Theological Seminary (CBTS), was announced as EthicsDaily.com’s Baptist of the Year for 2015 in late December.
Barbara “Babs” Baugh was recognized by EthicsDaily.com as Baptist of the Year for 2010.
Marshall will be formally recognized during the Baptist Center for Ethics’ (BCE) breakfast event on Friday morning, June 24, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The festive event will offer a playful look back at BCE’s 25 years of advancing the common good, recognize Marshall and preview forthcoming initiatives, including “The Disturbances,” a documentary on how Christian missionaries intervened to save lives during a time of genocide in Nigeria in 1966.
Baugh, a Baptist Center for Ethics board member and president of the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation, will receive the Global Heart Award from Global Women (GW) at a gala event on the evening of Friday, June 24.
GW executive director Stacy Blackman shared that “the Global Heart Award recognizes an extraordinary servant leader who demonstrates commitment to our mission and to using their gifts and abilities to ignite change – for women, for good! We could not think of anyone more deserving of this honor than Babs (and the John and Eula Mae Baugh Foundation).”
Baugh is widely known and celebrated for her generosity in supporting Baptist initiatives.
“No other Baptist does more to sustain and grow the best of the Baptist tradition than Babs Baugh, president of the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation, a foundation named after her parents,” wrote Robert Parham, EthicsDaily.com executive editor, in making the announcement about her selection in 2010.
