Undocumented immigrants have shifted their crossing location into the United States as Washington continues to shift blame from one party to the other for the failure to address comprehensive immigration reform.

Based on an internal Border Patrol report, The Associated Press said undocumented immigrants moving through the Rio Grande Valley sector had exceeded those crossing the Tucson, Arizona, sector.

More than 1,000 arrests were made in the Rio Grande sector during the second week of May.

Mexican nationals had entered the U.S. primarily through Arizona’s Sonora Desert, where portions of the EthicsDaily.com documentary “Gospel Without Borders,” was filmed.

Today, the traffic through Texas is from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, which AP said was the “most direct route” into the U.S.

The Border Patrol has detained some 140,000 undocumented immigrants since Oct. 1, 2013, in south Texas, almost 65 percent more than for the same time period during the previous year.

The Brownsville Herald said detainees were being held in “basically a gated garage.”
