When parents and church leaders tell children to be honest in word and deed; to not bully or otherwise mistreat others; to trust God and be like Jesus, to love all the children of the world — but then fearfully and heartily support political leaders who do the exact opposite the message gets muddied.

There’s a good chance that the lasting lesson being conveyed and received is that one should pretend to believe those things rather than actually live them out consistently.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Yet, often we just spout off about it and let it rot.
