Aaron Parnas is a fearless truth-teller. He is a lawyer, but not that kind of lawyer. He’s one who wants us all to understand what is happening, who wants us all to know the truth. So, he uses his keen intellect and communication skills to break it down for millions. Every single day. He does this when the president is angry at him. When he is threatened. When he is tired. He does this even on days when he’d rather fade into the background.
I first met Aaron when he began covering our work at Democracy Forward — the tireless nights and early mornings that blur together as our team works day in and day out to ensure that unconstitutional and harmful activity by the current administration and its allies is met with swift legal challenges. Aaron understood the ins and outs of our cases in a way that few do. More importantly, he understood why they matter. They matter because they are about people. And people — not powerful institutions — are in charge of what happens next.
I’ve never seen Aaron tire in his pursuit of the truth or in his service to the millions each day who rely on Aaron for information, inspiration, and, yes, his humor. But not slapstick humor. Instead, he possesses a sharp, snarky humor that, amid the rapid-fire onslaught of unprecedented events, reminds us that we aren’t crazy for feeling outraged. It is a humor that reminds us that if we lose the ability to be outraged, we will lose a part of our humanity. And that can’t happen — and it won’t on Aaron Parnas’ watch.
Skye Perryman is President and CEO of Democracy Forward. She was a 2025 ‘25 Who Inspire’ honoree.
