A new release from Nurturing Faith Books offers hope to those who grieve.
There are many ways things can go wrong in this life. None of us will go through all of them, but all of us will go through some of them. Job’s Choir: Essays from the Intersection of Grief and Hope is a collection of essays that explore this theme by reflecting on the life of one whose name is synonymous with living through and beyond the worst life can bring.
“That it is a grief book helps explain why Job’s Choir is such a brief book. It is partly because to speak of the tender wonders of grief and hope is soon to reach the limits of speech,” Poole writes. “The simple words that are gathered in this small book are hopeful reflections on that quiet question: ‘How do we go on when we cannot go on?’”
Kirby Godsey, chancellor at Mercer University, said about Job’s Choir, “This precious gem of a book will enable us in our awkward, stumbling silence to become peddlers of hope amidst the cacophony of broken hearts and broken dreams.” He added, “This small book is pure poetry, pure truth and a reservoir of kindness that will ring true in the human heart.”
Chuck Poole retired in 2022 from 45 years of pastoral life, during which he served churches in Georgia, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Jackson, Mississippi.
Job’s Choir is his ninth book. Chuck and his wife Marcia have two adult children and ten grandchildren.
Job’s Choir is available in paperback for $12 (including shipping) at GFM’s bookstore. The book will be available in the future as an eBook at Amazon (Kindle) and Barnes and Noble (Nook). To preview the book, click here.
