Nurturing Faith Books has released two new titles, The Path to Depth by Charles E. Poole and Morning Conversations on the Wisdom of the Ages by Jon R. Roebuck.
For many seekers of every faith, the story of our lifelong journey is one of thirsting for the goodness we do not yet have and of longing for a deeper life with God, Poole observes in The Path to Depth.
We wake each morning with the desire to live more deeply, fully and faithfully because, as far as we know, this is the only life we are ever going to have in this world. So, we long to get on, and stay on, the path to depth so that we can live the one and only life we are ever going to have as deeply, fully, and faithfully as we can.
Poole explores the narrow way of the path to depth, reflecting on the lifelong reaching for a more thoughtful, mindful, centered life in which we pray and strive to be kind and gentle, brave and true.
Poole retired in 2022 from 45 years of pastoral life, during which he served churches in Georgia, North Carolina, Washington, D.C. and Jackson, Mississippi. The Path to Depth is his eighth book. Chuck and his wife Marcia have two adult children and ten grandchildren.
Morning Conversations on the Wisdom of the Ages: Job–Song of Solomon is the third book in what will be a five-part series in which Roebuck offers devotional thoughts drawn from each chapter of the Bible.
Readers are taken through the five books of wisdom literature, with Roebuck not exhaustively interpreting, translating or providing full commentary on every chapter but helping readers engage with the text and perhaps draw some meaningful application for each day.
These conversations invite readers to ponder, reflect, inquire, learn and grow, discovering more about God’s story and the echoing refrain of God’s desire to know, love and redeem each person.
Roebuck serves as the executive director of the Rev. Charlie Curb Center for Faith Leadership at Belmont University, and as an adjunct professor in the School of Theology and Christian Ministry at Belmont.
The Path to Depth and Morning Conversations on the Wisdom of the Ages are both available in paperback for $18 each (including shipping) at GFM’s bookstore, and they will be available soon as an eBook at Amazon (Kindle) and Barnes and Noble (Nook).
