EthicsDaily.com’s release of “Brother Molly,” a six-episode documentary podcast on the life and work of theologian Molly T. Marshall, has been delayed.

Originally scheduled for release in its entirety on Tuesday, March 24, the podcast was put on hold in light of the announcement by Central Seminary, published March 30, that Marshall had offered her resignation.

“I offered my resignation effective March 1, 2020, to the Executive Committee because of an ethical lapse that betrayed my stewardship of office, which I voluntarily surfaced to governance because of my desire to protect the seminary,” Marshall said in Central’s press release. “I humbly apologize to the board and the rest of the Central constituency and seek forgiveness. My deepest prayer is for the flourishing of the school and her new president.”

EthicsDaily.com began work on the podcast in January 2019, interviewing several dozen friends and colleagues about Marshall’s impact on the role of women in ministry, Christian theology, Baptist life and theological education. The narrative podcast, totaling roughly three hours across six episodes, is also based on extensive interviews with Marshall.

“EthicsDaily has been in communication with Dr. Marshall,” said EthicsDaily Executive Director Mitch Randall. “In light of recent developments, we have decided to delay release of the podcast while we determine the next best steps for this production on the life and ministry of Molly.”

We will post further updates as they are available regarding the podcast’s status at BrotherMolly.com.
