On Christmas morning, the Randall clan made our way east to Tulsa in the wee hours while darkness still covered the landscape. The purpose of our early morning journey was noble and a tad selfish, if we were honest. We wanted to spend Christmas morning with my brother’s sons, six and five.
There is no greater hope or joy than watching children revel in the magic and splendor of Christmas morning.
As we cut through the darkness, the eastern sky began to give way to the rising sun. In just a few minutes, the sun elevated itself, bringing life and hope to another Christmas morning.
The explosion of color on the horizon reminded me of what awaited at the end of our trek.
When we arrived at my brother’s house, the yuletide merriment had already begun. Laughter and squeals could be heard as we walked up the sidewalk to the front door. And with a hardy knock and the crack of the door, the Randall Christmas began.
This last year has been challenging for those committed to unwavering love, radical inclusion, and prophetic justice. The rise of authoritarianism sends shivers down the strongest of backs, as we’ve witnessed draconian policies and unjust laws flooding the streets of our cities and towns.
At times, it seems the darkness is winning. At times, it seems the magic is gone and the laughter silenced.
It can leave us wondering aloud, “Where is the hope?”
As dark as it seems right now, I cannot let go of that Christmas sunrise. When the sun elevated itself that morning, breaking the darkness and filling the horizon with beauty, it gave me a new perspective. It gave me hope.
As we enter 2026, Good Faith Media will seek to elevate good faith to another level.
We are committed to telling stories of people and organizations making a positive difference in the world.
We are determined to call out injustices so all people can feel loved, accepted, and affirmed.
We are ready to stand up, speak out, and step forward for inclusion, freedom, and justice.
We are resolved to shine the light of Jesus’ radical love so the marginalized, racialized, and oppressed feel the embrace of community instead of the fists of greed and bigotry.
GFM is elevating our faith and mission by offering more reflection and resources so people can remain educated, engaged, and empowered.
The darkness will not win. Together, we will rise like eagles, elevating a faith of eternal hope.
A new year is at hand and a new attitude is coming along with it.
Happy New Year from your friends at Good Faith Media!
