Good Faith Media (GFM) is excited to announce its “Faithful Pride Initiative” (FPI), which will highlight and amplify the stories of LGBTQ+ people of faith doing inspiring work worldwide. Rev. Kali Cawthon-Freels, a longtime GFM contributing correspondent, will lead the initiative.
Cawthon-Freels is a writer, spiritual director, minister and sought-after voice in the area of queer theology. She is also the author of “Reclamation: A Queer Pastor’s Guide to Finding Spiritual Growth in the Passages Used to Harm Us.”
GFM’s CEO Mitch Randall said Cawthon-Freels “is one of the most insightful theologians emerging today. Her reflections on scripture and culture challenge the mind and inspire the soul. She also demonstrates a deep compassion for others.”
Randall added, “Good Faith Media is thrilled to have Rev. Cawthon-Freels as a consultant as we launch the Faithful Pride Initiative.”
FPI will be a platform by and for queer people. It will also allow LGBTQ+ allies to learn from stories that center the queer experience.
In a statement, Cawthon-Freels said: “In a time when the loudest public narratives about LGBTQ+ people are slanderous or fear-focused, we need stories of LGBTQ+ hope more than ever. The Divine is at work in the lives of LGBTQ+ people around the world. I see it across the country; I see it in my church; I see it in my own marriage. My hope is that the Faithful Pride Initiative will provide people of good faith with the courage and resources we need not only to face the days ahead but to live spiritually enriching lives now and always.”
GFM’s goal has always been to provide resources and reflections at the intersection of faith and culture from an inclusive Christian lens. FPI will greatly enhance this vision using GFM’s multi-platform storytelling strategy. The initiative will be the home for articles, books, podcasts, and video productions that celebrate God’s activity among LGBTQ+ people of good faith.
Also, in alignment with GFM’s commitment to being “out on the streets,” the FPI will be present at conferences, festivals and other important gatherings to bear witness to God’s activity among LGBTQ+ people of faith.
