We are thrilled to announce the addition of three new contributing correspondents to the Good Faith Media cadre of writers. These thought leaders bring new voices to the table and will invigorate our efforts to tell faith stories that amplify freedom, inclusivity and justice.
Good Faith Media produces a wealth of content that informs and inspires people of faith to live out God’s inclusive, expansive and justice-oriented calling in the world. Through the publication of books, Good Faith Magazine and Bible Studies and producing podcasts and video content, we amplify the stories and messages of our four core initiatives: Faith and Democracy, The Raceless Gospel, Faithful Pride, and Preaching to Inspire.
Our online content has introduced many readers to these offerings. We refer to this as our “front porch.” The articles we share on weekdays (and occasionally on weekends) provide a glimpse into who we are and the issues we care about. These columns invite readers to explore deeper, more inclusive expressions of faith within our growing community.
In addition to weekly columns from our staff writers and the submissions we receive from freelance writers around the world, our collection of articles is strengthened by monthly columns from our contributing correspondents. Their work allows us to consistently learn from and be inspired by some of the foremost ministers, scholars and public theologians today.
Kerri Fisher
Kerri Fisher is the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University.
Fisher writes creative nonfiction that explores identity, particularly as it is shaped by race, religion and gender. Her work has been recognized by the Writer’s League of Texas, the Collegeville Institute, and The Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference. She has also been published in Apricity magazine and The Mockingheart Review.
Fisher said she is “thrilled to be joining Good Faith Media as a contributing correspondent because of its commitment to justice and its practice of seeing the sacred in the so-called ‘secular.’” She added, “I look forward to writing more about current art and culture, which has always been a dream of mine!”
You can follow Fisher here and read more from her at her website, “Black. White. Other.”
Rebecca David Hensley
Rebecca David Hensley is a researcher, pastor, and adjunct faculty member at Iliff School of Theology. Her research and writing focus on identifying and resisting the ways White+Christian dominance asserts itself in and through justice-seeking White Christians on our journey toward solidarity and allyship with marginalized communities.
She enjoys introducing people to new ways of understanding systems of domination and oppression and imagining new ways to infuse liberative theologies and praxis into their living and leadership within their religious institutions, non-profit organizations and local communities.
Hensley has lived in Texas and Oklahoma. She is currently a resident of Colorado and enjoys “communing with Creation on these sacred ancestral lands of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Ute, and several other Indigenous peoples.” She and her spouse attempt to “enroot a love and respect for nature” in their two-year-old, who expresses her appreciation in her own words: “Go, go, Mountains!”
Hensley says, “I am excited about becoming a contributing correspondent for Good Faith Media and joining the chorus of prophetic voices boldly proclaiming the justice-centered heart of the Christian faith while challenging dominant narratives of White Christian Nationalism in our nation and world–for such a time as this.”
Michelle Wahila
Rev. Michelle Wahila is an ordained pastor (Presbyterian Church USA), founder of Ruffled by Grace, and a sought-after officiant and retreat leader. She creates heartfelt celebrations and sacred experiences that blend tradition with imagination.
Though her vocational journey has taken her outside the walls of the institutional church, she has embraced writing as a way to tell stories of faith, love, and abundance, just as she did in the pulpit. Wahila’s writing blurs the lines between tradition and creativity in narrative, liturgy, prayer and blessing.
Wahila says, “The holy act of writing deepens my faith in ways I never imagined. I am delighted to have the opportunity to write for Good Faith Media, and I look forward to offering reflections that blend faith and imagination.”
Wahila lives in a 19th-century farmhouse in rural France with her family and a menagerie of pets. In addition to writing, she enjoys gardening, making jam and savoring a good cup of coffee.
