In July 2020, Good Faith Media (GFM) launched with great anticipation for a bright future. After careful consideration by the staff and leadership at Ethics Daily and Nurturing Faith, both organizations believed their most effective path forward was to create an entirely new outlet for progressive Christian values. And with that, Good Faith Media was born.

While we would never recommend launching a new organization during a global pandemic, 2020 set the tone for the type of honest and trustworthy coverage and storytelling that would define GFM over the next five years. Unafraid to tackle the most controversial issues and share inspiring stories through multiple media platforms, GFM elevated the type of media coverage across faith-based journalism.

Over the past five years, GFM’s writers, authors and content creators have engaged with many diverse issues.  From the death of George Floyd and calls for racial justice to standing against the rise of Christian nationalism gripping the church and country, Good Faith Media has provided trustworthy reflections and honest analysis along the way.

Now, as we set our eyes toward the future, GFM sees an epic struggle for the soul of the Christian witness and the survival of democracy. For decades, religious fundamentalism has taken root in the church, creating theological dictators out of pastors and authoritarian regimes from churches within their communities.

Any fellow Christian or group disagreeing with their rigid interpretations of the Scriptures was declared an enemy.  Therefore, as their enemy, they must convert to fundamentalist ways or be destroyed. Thus, the rise of “theological obliteration” evolved into what the rest of the country now sees as the latest version of Christian nationalism—if fundamentalists can’t control it, then they will burn it down.

At this five-year mark, Good Faith Media is recommitting to fighting this fight. We still believe there is good in the world because we see it every week in individuals, churches and organizations. The darkness of religious dogma does not have to prevail because there are millions of small lights sparkling around the world.

Good Faith Media truly believes that a rising tide lifts all boats.

From Little Rock, Arkansas, to Lviv, Ukraine, GFM has witnessed the best of humanity, as people of faith work together for the common good. From marching alongside Mike Brown, Sr. in Ferguson, Missouri, to opposing a federal bill in Washington, D.C., that would harm millions of Americans struggling with poverty, we have been present to ask questions and offer insights.

The Good Faith Media production team, led by Cliff Vaughn and Roderious Phillips, continues to produce some of the best videos and podcasts at the intersection of faith and culture.  From Cliff’s fantastic stories about Molly Marshall and Second Baptist Church, Little Rock, to Rod’s production of Good Faith Weekly, this dynamic duo continues to inspire each week.  And, I would be amiss not to mention how fun Missy and I have bringing Good Faith Weekly to listeners each week.

Good Faith Magazine continues to evolve with each issue, offering remarkable stories and insights, along with a progressively informed Bible study curriculum for small groups. Under the editorial guidance of Craig Nash and in response to our readers’ input, we have even more exciting changes planned for the magazine in 2026. Be sure to get the latest issue with GFM’s “25 Who Inspire,” honoring 25 individuals who are making a difference in the world.

Another exciting development has been the four initiatives arising from our work. The Raceless Gospel, led by Starlette Thomas, continues to deconstruct race as a human construct, providing an alternative way to celebrate the diverse ethnic and cultural heritages that make up all of God’s children. A new season of The Raceless Gospel podcast is currently underway.

The Faith and Democracy initiative seeks to strike a balance that protects both without compromising either. Using GFM’s media outlets, consultant Glenn Smith and I steer the initiative, providing informative resources on current events that shape faith and the country. Democracy is hanging on a razor’s edge right now; therefore, we are working with other organizations and individuals to ensure the rights of every citizen can remain secure.

The Preaching to Inspire initiative combines the old with the new. Retired curriculum writer and professor Tony Cartledge completed the Nurturing Faith Commentary last year. This is an invaluable resource for clergy and laity who take their Bible study more seriously.

In addition, GFM took on the responsibility of producing A Sermon for Every Sunday, bringing world-class preachers to the platform each week. GFM still believes preaching matters.

Finally, GFM’s newest initiative is Faithful Pride. After five years of championing the inclusion and affirmation of the LGBTQ+ community in the church and culture, GFM asked Kali Cawthon-Freels to lead this initiative. Under Kali’s leadership, GFM will develop more resources centering on faith, gender and sexuality.

And, of course, none of the content GFM creates could be delivered to you without the extraordinary work of Cally Chisholm, Stephanie Brueggeman and Missy Randall. Cally’s creative designs and social media prowess are invaluable to GFM’s ability to communicate to a broader audience. Stephanie’s ability to navigate the website, GFM’s database and manage magazine circulation is outstanding. And Missy, well, she brings the fun and keeps us all on task.  We are incredibly thankful for their work.

As you can see, Good Faith Media has been busy over the last five years. We’ve appreciated every moment, as our incredible staff has worked tirelessly to provide the very best resources at the intersection of faith and culture for our readers, viewers and listeners.

And this goes without saying: GFM has the very best people to work alongside, with each bringing unique gifts and passions to their jobs. Cliff, Craig, Star, Cally, Rod, Stephanie, Kali, and even Missy; it’s a joy working with this fantastic team!

Celebrating the last five years is fun, but GFM is still looking towards the future. We believe “There is (Even) More to Tell.”

We need your help in securing a solid financial future for GFM’s fantastic work. If you appreciate our work and contribution to the public discourse, we invite you to become a Good Faith Advocate

Good Faith Advocates are monthly donors or those who give a one-time gift of $50 or more to support our work. In return, advocates get Good Faith Magazine, a discount at GFM’s online bookstore, monthly newsletter updates, and special correspondence on upcoming events.

We would not be able to do this work without you, so we want you to know how much we appreciate everyone’s affirmation and generosity.

Good Faith Media will continue to look towards the future with optimism and enthusiasm, reaching for the sky to tug on that arc of the moral universe and bend it towards justice.

Happy anniversary, Good Faith Media!
