The T.B. Maston Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2026–27 academic year scholarship, Executive Director David Morgan announced.

The foundation awards a $5,000 scholarship annually to a graduate student whose studies focus on Christian ethics, Morgan said. Eligible candidates include Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Theology students writing dissertations that address ethical implications, as well as Doctor of Ministry students whose projects emphasize an ethical focus.

By awarding scholarships to doctoral-level students, the Maston Foundation seeks to encourage ongoing leadership and scholarship in the field of Christian ethics, Morgan noted. The foundation also aims to challenge Baptists to live out an authentic, Christlike ethic.

Since 1982, Maston’s former students, colleagues, and friends have awarded 36 scholarships in his name.

Application packets should include an application form, academic transcripts, a CV or résumé, letters of recommendation, a dissertation or thesis abstract, and an essay. To access the online application, click here.

The Maston Foundation perpetuates the teaching and legacy of its namesake, a renowned professor of Christian ethics and a 20th-century Baptist advocate for racial justice. In addition to its annual scholarship, the foundation also sponsors retreats, including an annual program for undergraduate students called “Young Maston Scholars.”
