Sonya Claire Milam
As a non-traditional student, Sonya Claire Milam earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Service from Middle Georgia State University in 2013 and is also a 2022 graduate of Mercer University’s School of Medicine Master of Family Therapy program.
She is the former school-based family therapist for the Georgia Academy for the Blind (GAB). Previously, she served five years as the parent mentor for the Georgia Department of Education’s Division of State Schools, directly serving students’ families at GAB and supporting the family engagement programs at the Georgia School for the Deaf and the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf. She is now an assessor and counselor in private practice.
Sonya Claire continues membership at The First Baptist Church of Christ, Macon, Georgia, where she and her late husband, Bob, served as deacons. Her previous publications include Sunday School lessons and guest commentary in faith based publications.
