New titles from Doug Dortch, Bruce Salmon, and Maralene and Miles Wesner are now available from Nurturing Faith Books, the publishing imprint of Good Faith Media.
Have A Minute? by Doug Dortch is based on the Christian year and offers brief reflections that invite readers to enjoy the rhythms of the various seasons of the liturgical calendar so that they might align their lives with the broad redemption story of Scripture and make commitments that will promote faith’s flourishing.
Time is a form of currency that each of us is afforded a set amount. No one has any more or any less time. Everyone is granted the same 1,440 minutes in a day. How we use them, however, is our decision. Dortch, the recently retired senior minister of Mountain Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, recognizes that reality and offers a resource to make those moments we carve out of our busy schedules the most meaningful.
Acts and the General Epistles of the New Testament — Exploring Important Passages in the Bible is Bruce Salmon’s latest work in the Spelunking Scripture series. The third installment asks the crucial question: How is it possible to preach on the same scripture passage again and again and have something new to say?
It is a matter of spelunking scripture, moving beyond the “what” question to the “so what” question of the scripture text, Salmon suggests. Each chapter takes a look at Acts and the Epistles in a way that is relevant to our modern world without losing sight of Jesus’ message.
Life More Abundant is the latest Nurturing Faith Book from the Wesners, following the release of their Sermons for Special Days in April. Their book presents a psychological explanation of the gospel, reflecting on the nine basic human needs that salvation fills and discussing the need and effects of the abundant life and the way in which the church must promote abundant life.
Knowing that people today want more than creeds and platitudes, the Wesners offer logical reasons for the positive changes that take place when we become a Christian to help readers understand how and why a conversion experience can make a real difference in their lives.
Have A Minute?, Acts and the General Epistles of the New Testament and Life More Abundant are each available in paperback for $18 (with free shipping) from GFM’s bookstore.
An e-book for each title will be available on Amazon (Kindle) and Barnes and Noble (Nook) soon.
