With faith being manipulated by religious fundamentalists and democracy on the brink of collapse, it’s time for people of good faith to cooperate around a unifying mission.

For decades, right-wing businesses, organizations, and individuals coalesced around a strategy of conquest and control. Religious Right leaders, conservative politicians, and Libertarian-minded oligarchs conspired to divide and conquer Christian denominations, the Republican Party, and government entities—from city halls and school boards to the White House.

The current crisis of authoritarianism and fascism is a direct result of this decades-long effort. For too long, people of faith have been on the defensive, allowing the Religious Right to steer the conversation regarding critical issues that shape both faith and democracy.

It’s time for people of faith to start playing offense.

For six years, Good Faith Media has had a front-row seat to the remarkable individuals and organizations transforming their communities. While the Religious Right and their partners have grabbed most of the media headlines, good faith individuals and organizations have been on the front lines, hard at work and making a difference.

Good Faith Media wants to amplify that work, communicating to a vast, diverse audience how people of good faith are working toward inclusivity, freedom, and justice for all people.

To accomplish this, we are excited to announce the Good Faith Alliance.

The Good Faith Alliance will be a strategic community of inclusive, justice-minded organizations working together toward common goals and the common good.

The Good Faith Alliance will have two objectives.

First, we will create a community of justice-centered organizations to foster cooperation, collaboration, and education.

Organizations will meet virtually four times a year to learn from one another and hear from experts in faith, inclusivity, and justice. The first quarterly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, at 11:00 AM EST. Our conversation partner that day will be Robert P. Jones, President and Founder of the Public Religion Research Institute, who will discuss his new book, Backslide.

Beginning in 2027, Good Faith Alliance will schedule one annual in-person meeting with leaders to collaborate, learn, and network.

Second, Good Faith Alliance will develop and distribute clear, impactful media projects that amplify positive stories addressing today’s most pressing issues.

Good Faith Alliance organizations will work with the Good Faith Media staff to develop transformative media projects, such as promotional videos, documentaries, podcasts, books, social media campaigns, or written column series.

The Good Faith Alliance will also help secure support for the project. Our grant researcher will match proposed projects to potential foundations and write the grant-seeking proposal.

Once funding is secured, we will work with Alliance members to complete the project and amplify the message. Working together will help us communicate positive examples of good faith and the common good.

Recently, Good Faith Media hosted an online meeting with 15 potential partners, with six organizations committing to join the Good Faith Alliance.

Rev. Dr. Amy Butler, founder of Invested Faith, commented, “At Invested Faith, we are working hard to meet this critical moment boldly and with a prophetic vision for the future; we know we can be braver and more impactful when we work together with our partners in the Good Faith Alliance.”

To apply for membership, you must complete an application, agree to a statement of values, and pay an annual membership fee.

Statement of Values:

(1) All humans, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or economic status, deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and given agency to live as their conscience directs.

(2) All members should respect each other’s faith and conscience, celebrate diversity and understanding, and work together for the common good, striving for equality, representation, opportunity, and justice for all people.

(3) All creation is part of a symbiotic relationship, and we must work to ensure its flourishing.

Good Faith Alliance will launch Tuesday, September 1.
