New books from Jon R. Roebuck and Larry C. Williams are now available from Nurturing Faith Books, the publishing imprint of Good Faith Media.
Morning Conversations on the Rise and Fall of Kings and Kingdoms: 1 Samuel – Esther by Roebuck is volume two of a planned five-volume collection of devotional thoughts from the Bible.
The Rise and Fall of Kings and Kingdoms takes the reader through nine books of biblical history, offering fresh insights on these texts. The author’s goal is not to exhaustively interpret, translate or provide full commentary on every chapter, but to help readers engage with the text and perhaps draw some meaningful application for each day.
Morning Conversations on the Creation of a People and Place is the first volume of the collection, focusing on Genesis to Ruth. Morning Conversations on the Wisdom of the Ages will cover Job to the Song of Solomon, while Morning Conversations on the Prophetic Word will focus on Isaiah through Malachi. Morning Conversations on the New Testament is the final volume of this collection, offering perspective from each chapter of the Christian Testament.
Roebuck serves as the Executive Director of the Rev. Charlie Curb Center for Faith Leadership at Belmont University. Additionally, he serves as an adjunct professor in the School of Theology and Christian Ministry at Belmont.
Untie Your Soul: Rediscovering the Spiritual Writings of Samuel H. Miller by Williams seeks to make the writings of Miller both known and accessible to a wider audience.
After years of drawing on Miller’s wisdom in preparing sermons, Williams conceived of a project in which he would highlight various insights, observations and statements from Miller’s works that were loaded with meaning, offering readers a collection of spiritual meditations.
“Miller has deepened and broadened my ways of thinking, believing, and loving. He has shown me vistas and led me to depths that I didn’t know existed. He has helped me discover ‘treasures in earthen vessels’ (2 Cor 4:7 RSV),” Williams says. “He has taken me to the great abyss, at the edge of life and death, and given me a glimpse of the eternal that still brings tears to my eyes. In short, he has become my spiritual guide.”
Williams has served as pastor of two congregations in North Carolina: First Baptist Church of Dobson and Louisburg Baptist Church. He was campus minister at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was director of The Pastor as Spiritual Guide Program sponsored by the Center for Congregational Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Morning Conversations on the Rise and Fall of Kings and Kingdoms: 1 Samuel – Esther and Untie Your Soul: Rediscovering the Spiritual Writings of Samuel H. Miller are both available in paperback for $18 each (with free shipping) from GFM’s bookstore.
