Becoming Like Christ: Grounding Youth in Jesus – By Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
Raising a teenager is no small feat. And it seems that the more advanced we become as a society, the more challenged we are as parents and caregivers to provide a foundation for youth to stand on while they grow. Many voices speak to teenagers; at their schools, in their community, through media, through celebrities, through their friends. With so many voices, it can be challenging for youth to hear their own story, let alone God’s story, in the midst of the noise. Parenting a teenager is about helping your child hear the story of God’s love and grace as their own story written for them.
Becoming Like Christ: Grounding Youth in Jesus, first produced by CBF in 2009, is an updated and revised resource that seeks to aid youth parents, youth leaders, and youth themselves who want to ground their faith in God’s story. This eight-week interactive study encourages youth parents, youth leaders, and youth to partner together to listen to “God’s story,” “our story,” and “my story.”
Becoming Like Christ: Grounding Youth in Jesus is a resource CBF is including in the Dawnings Suite of Resources. Dawnings invites participants to ask, “God, what would you have me to do?” and “God, what would you have me to be?” as they participate in the three processes of Visioning, Forming and Engaging. Be sure to look for other resources in the Dawnings Suite of resources available from CBF.
